Mr. Gleno Antonio Waters

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother Gleno A. Waters Sr. age 42, on March 22, 2025. Gleno was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Newport News, Virginia, where he spent much of his life surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly. Gleno graduated from Maury High School in 2001. He was a man of many skilled services, some including, Pepsi Corporation as fork lift operator and The College of William and Mary in Food Service for several years. Gleno is survived by his long-time partner, Robin McSweeney, his beloved son, Gleno Antonio Waters Jr. , and his parents, Deborah Barnes (deceased) and Gleno Waters (deceased). He also leaves behind his twin sister, Glenica Dennis, his brothers, Errick Jennings. and Derrick Jennings, his extended family, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other loved ones who were fortunate to know him. Gleno was especially close to his maternal grandparents, Louise and the late Bennie Holloway, and his paternal grandparents, Berthena and the late Gleno Waters. Known for his deep principles and compassionate heart, Gleno was a gentle giant who touched the lives of everyone he met. A lover of sports, particularly the Washington Commanders, he shared this passion with his brothers and always enjoyed engaging in lively conversations about the game. Gleno was a true people person, able to strike up a conversation with anyone, no matter where he went. His curiosity and knowledge on any subject he cared about were remarkable, and he was always eager to share his wisdom with others, often offering a word of encouragement or advice. Gleno was passionate about learning, particularly when it came to exploring different religions and understanding his familial roots. He grounded his beliefs in the principles of Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom, and Justice. He lived by these values every day. Above all, Gleno loved his family. He was selfless and always willing to give what he had to help others in need. While Gleno was a man of few words at times, his presence was always felt. He was reserved yet kind, strong in his convictions, and gentle in his actions. His family, friends, and anyone who knew him will remember him as a great man, whose heart was as big as his personality. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 3:00 pm, at Grace Change Church 467 Denbigh Blvd. Newport News, VA 23608. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 225 N Street, Newport News, VA 23603 Gleno's legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who had the honor to know him.
